DIY Lip Scrub/Facial and Body Exfoliator

DIY SUGAR, HONEY AND OLIVE OIL SCRUB

This is a simple DIY for your skin. This scrub acts as an exfoliator for your face and lips. Do you notice that the weather is dry nowadays? That means our skin will lose its moisture and dries up thus it needs to stay healthy and fresh and in order for this to be done, your skin has to be scrubbed or exfoliated and moisturized.

Guess what? This scrub exfoliates and moisturize your skin at the same time! Great, isn't it?
Before I start with the things you need and steps to do this, I shall share with you the fascinating benefits of these three ingredients.

Olive Oil:
  1. It acts as a moisturizer.
  2. It helps your skin to stay soft and smooth while keeping it toned and firmed.
  3. It doesn't clog pores.
  4. It can help in stimulating skin healing for irritation or sunburns on skin.
  5. It helps to get rid of free radicals and repair the damage done due to the exposure of the sun.
  6. It promotes good blood circulation to provide natural glow on your skin.
Sugar:
  1. It acts as an exfoliator.
  2. It protects against toxins.
  3. It maintains the skin oil balance.
  4. It exfoliates the top layer of the skin to allow moisturizers to penetrate more and hydrate longer.
  5. It promotes glowing and healthy looking skin.
Honey:
  1. It helps in preventing acne and also for acne treatment.
  2. It slows down aging.
  3. It helps your skin to glow for a complexion boost.
  4. It is clarifying because it opens up pores making them easy to unclog.
Sounds great, huh? Trust me, natural ingredients are always the best. So, here are the things you need:
  • 2 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (if you have the regular olive oil, it will be fine too)
  • 1 tablespoons of Honey (you can choose either regular ones or organic ones, both are fine)
  • 1/4 cup of Sugar
  • A container or anything you could contain the mixture in
  • A spoon to stir the ingredients together
  • Face towel
As usual, first, add the olive oil and honey then pour the sugar in and mix well until you get a thick mixture. You can choose to use it right away or you can change the proportions if you want to store it. Personally, I like to use it right away.

How to apply?
  1. First and foremost, make sure, always make sure your face and your lips are clean. Remove all of your makeup completely before applying the scrub. You can choose to cleanse your face first before exfoliating it. It is highly recommended to cleanse your face first!
  2. You can choose how much you need to exfoliate your face. But, always remember, small amount is always better.
  3. Be gentle, your skin is very fragile, make sure to scrub is in circular motion ensuring all parts of the skin has been exfoliated.
  4. Always, always avoid your eye area. This is always a number 1 rule when it comes to your face.
  5. Scrub, scrub, scrub! Scrub for 1-2 minutes and then rinse it off!
  6. Use a towel to dry your face.
  7. Apply your moisturizers if you feel like you need it because normally, after this scrub, your skin feels smooth. This step is optional.
Tip: I recommend to always do this during nighttime and also, it is not recommended to do this everyday because your skin will turn red and therefore, promoting breakouts. Do this once or twice per week to rejuvenate your skin. Try it!

I hope you liked this DIY. See you on my next post.

Review: Lime Crime Velvetine

LIME CRIME PINK VELVET

Lime Crime's products are all from US and it is vegan and cruelty-free! Thumbs up for that. Lime Crime's Velvetine Collection is a lipstick that goes totally matte after you've applied it. There's the Suedeberry, Red Velvet and Pink Velvet and not to mention with the new launched Wicked Collection which consists of three warm dark tone like Black Velvet, Salem (a brown chocolate colour) and Wicked (a dark burgundy red).

First, you apply it like a lip gloss and wait for a few seconds for it to turn matte. I got this earlier this year at $30 which included the shipping price. I asked someone to order it for me because at the moment, I have no MasterCard or Paypal and I loved the fact that the shipping was fast and I received it in within a week.

Lime Crime is one of my favourite lipstick brand right now. Not to mention, the colour is perfect for any occasions, be it for casual, formal or even informal events. This lipstick is long-lasting and it does not smudge. Let me repeat. It does not smudge. That's the thing I like about the Velvetine Collection. Admit it. Who likes it when your lipstick becomes a face paint right after you've eaten a scrumptious meal? No one. Right, this lipstick is perfect for you. The only way to remove this lipstick is by using a makeup remover to wipe it all off. The texture is smooth so not to worry, the liquid will glide along your lips easily. With one coat, the colour goes totally opaque. How can I not love that? And, yes there're three ways to wear this. You can use a lip brush for a detailed clean look, your fingers for a light matte look and straight from the tube itself for a complete matte look. Try it!

But, here's the cons. Before applying it, make sure your lips are smooth. No chapped or dry lips because this lipstick will show all those ugly sides of it after you've applied it. I've been through that and it was not good, trust me. Make sure you have your lips exfoliated to remove all those dry and chapped skin. I'll have some DIY post on that soon. But, if you need a simple exfoliating tip, use a toothbrush. It works!

Honestly, this lipstick is a need for every girl, trust me. It goes well with warm and cool tones. It is a must have in every girl's makeup collection. I can't wait to have the whole collection in hands. There are opaque lipstick collections too. You can get it from http://www.limecrime.com and they do ship internationally. Check them out!

DIY Date Jar

Earlier this week, i came across a post on Twitter which showed a picture of a conversation between a couple who suggested that they should get a jar and write down all of their date ideas on a piece of paper and place it in the jar. What is this for? This is for couples that has no idea where to head to for their next date and with this jar, either one of them is supposed to randomly draw a paper out from it and there'll be no hesitation. Well, as much as I dislike to confess, me and my boyfriend are one of those couples who always have no idea where to head to next and here's why I'm very much inspired for this DIY.

DIY DATE JAR

As you can see, all you need are:
  • A Jar
  • Post-it notes
  • Pen
Simple isn't it? I got the jar at Typo from Westgate for $4.95 and the post-it notes and pen at Popular from IMM. These cost me less than $10 and it's a great and simple DIY.

First, write down a date idea. You can search it up on the internet for ideas. Examples are movie dates, beach date, food hunt date and so on and so forth.

Secondly, after you've written down your date idea, fold it into 4 and place it in the jar.

Thirdly, you can go creative with what you have! Decorate it with markers, tapes and ribbons. Be crazy and creative! If you like it simple, leave it the way it is. Have fun!

I personally can't wait to draw them out and I wonder where me and my boyfriend will go to next. Try it out and post it on instagram or twitter and quote it #delilahdiy! I'll be back with more posts of DIY and beauty reviews and tips. See you at the next post.

March Haul

I decided to go around Jurong East for shopping and also, that area is near to my place. That is totally awesome! Since my boyfriend has never been shopping for quite some time, I dragged him along with me. We stopped by Aiman Cafe which is located at 235 Jurong East St 21 #01-320 Singapore 600235.

I had my long awaited craving which was Wanton Noodles and my boyfriend as usual, Western Food. Aiman Cafe offers a lot of halal varieties ranging from Chinese, Malay and Western food. The place too offers satay for those satay lovers out there. Do check Aiman Cafe out.

After breakfast, I waited for boyfriend's Friday prayers at Al Mukminin Mosque while slurping on my Green Tea Cream Frappucino at JEM. After an hour of waiting, we went shopping and these are the hauls I've got.

Apparels:
Floral Maxi Dress from Factorie at Westgate. I got it at $59.90. Even though it costs a bomb but the material is super comfortable. The impression this dress has given me is notable. Well, I've always wanted to look feminine and classy at the same time and I guess it's a really great outfit for both casual and semi-casual outing. I'll definitely pair this with a buckled shoe or sandals or slippers with an outerwear because I honestly don't wear sleeveless.

Striped Sweater from H&M at JEM. I got this at $24.90. I swear I have been looking for a striped top that does not make me look bigger because of the horizontal stripes and guess what? I finally have this sweater top in my hands. The material is super super super comfortable. It's not thick and this is suitable for Singapore's weather condition. It's also a great outfit for a casual outing. It'll go great with a pair of jeans and boots or sneakers. Oh, and not to mention, H&M is having a sale right now. Do drop by the shop!

Accessories:
Earrings from Lovisa at JEM. These cost me $13! Lovisa is having a promotion going on right now at 3 for $13 and some at 2 for $20. Do check Lovisa out and not to mention, Lovisa is one of my favourite brands when it comes to accessories. I rushed to the shop when I saw the sale sign in their shop. I bought these also because I have too much big earrings at home and I think it's time for me to go for a switch to smaller ones. Also, as you can see, I love the gold colour because I think it matches my skin tone unlike silver and these earrings will be perfect for any outings. Do visit Lovisa for their sale!

Beauty Products:
Dior Lipstick from Sephora at JEM. It costs $52 and probably this is an early birthday treat from my boyfriend. The lipstick is in shade 012 Hollywood. Look at the casing! It's gold and it's so glamourous and not to mention, it is super cute! The colour is more to a pink purple shade. The colour is perfect for the sunny weather and not to mention, it is long-wearing and matte! I'm totally loving this lipstick besides my Lime Crime and I can't wait to wear it out and I'll show you girls how it looks like. Sephora is having a membership card where you can sign up for free and the more you buy their items, the more your points will increase and every $1 is equivalent to 1 point and simply accumulate 250 points and you'll get 10% discount voucher for your next purchase!

Daiso:
I'm aware that it goes under beauty products but I think I have to give a review on the products of Daiso because simply some of you girls are actually cautious about wearing them as they are really cheap and you have no idea what's inside the cheap product. I got them at IMM and these cost me $10 for 5 products and yes, Daiso is always $2!

Mascara:
As much as I hate to admit this, my first mascara product is from Daiso. Well, at that time I wanted something cheap for me to begin with and yes, i started with Daiso products. This mascara is my favourite from Daiso. It gives the length, volume and curl for your non-existent lashes. The mascara will dry on your lashes after wearing and in order for you to remove them, first, you have to wet your lashes and use your fingers or a cotton pad and gently pull the mascara away from your lashes and it's as simple as that!

Nose Shadow:
This product is awesome and this is my third time purchasing it. I use it mostly for contouring my face and I swear it is really good. I've been using this since December last year and I'll definitely be buying more when it runs out. What for getting expensive contouring palette when you can just get this at $2. This product is like a must have on my face before I go out. It gives a really good contour and highlight for your face and I promise you, you won't regret buying it. It's only $2!

Blush:
I'm not a regular blush user but I definitely want to try out Daiso's product. The blush has some shimmer and it gives off a radiant look which I really like the most about it. For those semi-tanned skin, if you're looking for a rosy cheek, try this blush out!

Concealer:
I've tried out two of Daiso's concealer. One is a brush concealer and another is a liquid concealer. Both work fantastic for my skin even though the colour is brighter than your skin colour but that is what you need for your dark circles. Something brighter and now, I'm trying out the stick concealer. Earlier this morning, I swatched it on my hand and it's perfect for my skin tone. I'm hoping for a good review for this!

Eyelash glue:
I haven't try this out and I'm hoping it'll turn out good. I'll review on this very soon.

That's all, girls. Stay tune for another blogpost!

Love, Delilah.
