OVERTHINKING SUCKS

Do you hate those nights where you can't stop thinking about your life, your existence and the things that have happened or will happen in your life? I do. There is always something, a thought in your mind and you continuously think about and it eventually gets deeper and deeper and you start thinking about the circumstances, events and possibilities that could happen. Let's just say it in a simple phrase: overthinking is a fascinating way to mess things up in your life. I very much hate it and I feel that majority feel the same way as I do.

Sometimes when you cannot take it anymore, you just cry your eyes out and you wonder why. Millions of pessimistic thoughts racing through your mind when you yourself know that it wouldn't happen but you strongly insist that it will happen and the more you think about it the more you feel like it's going to happen in reality. It sucks, doesn't it?

I wish I knew how to stop this foolish act of my brain and mind that cannot stop over thinking and evaluating about what's happening in my life. It's worse when it's time for you to sleep and suddenly your mind starts questioning stupid things. At times, you don't realise that when you overthink, it actually affects your surrounding and your relationship with others. It's like out of the blue your mind starts controlling you and you'll end up hurting others when you didn't even mean to in the first place.

For an instance, if you're in a relationship and you truly know deeply in your heart that your partner is a sincere, honest, faithful and a loyal person but when this overthinking 'illness' starts to take over your brain, your perception of your partner completely changes. Every little thing they do, you start being so suspicious and pessimistic that all of your thoughts begin to take control of your emotions thus ruining and complicating your relationship with your partner. I went through that personally and I understand if others are going through the same thing as I did.

I feel that I need some way to calm my mind down. From what I've researched, over thinking is prevalent in young and middle-aged adults and occurs mostly in women. I guess it is common but there is still a need for all of us that tend to overthink to discipline our thoughts and not let it control ourselves.

Overthinking is just a great way to ruin your day and your mood. Right?

Sigh, good night.

Love, Delilah.
