3 best beauty/makeup tips!

Hey girls. Before I come up with my everyday makeup tutorial in this blog, I thought of making a sweet and short post to keep my blog updated. Here's my 5 best beauty/makeup tips!

1. Cheek/Lip tint

credits: google

Lipstick?! Yes, lipstick. Call me crazy but lipsticks are a good substitution for blushers! Don't be insane and smudge your red lipstick all over your cheeks unless you want to look like a clown walking in the street. Use a subtle colour like pink/nude pink colour on your cheeks. For a more natural colour, use a tinted lip balm.

Tip: Never smudge. Use the lipstick and dot it on the apple of your cheeks. (I would recommend 3-4 dots) Use your hand/brush and blend it. Afterwards, apply a face powder to lock the colour in.

For lip tints, ever wanted lipstick that looks natural? Great! Take your lipstick, girls!

Tip: Use your fingers and swipe the colour off the lipstick and dab the colour on your lips until you get the desired colour. For those who want a natural red tinted lip, apply your lipstick as per usual. Make sure it covers your lip fully. Wait for about a minute and then take a tissue paper and wipe your lipstick off. The red will stay and yes, it'll look natural.

2. Glossy to matte lipstick

Do you know that there are times where you have too many lip gloss or shiny lipsticks and you wish you have some matte ones inside your makeup collection but, you don't want to spend dollars on a new matte lipstick? Don't worry about it. Do you hear me? DO NOT WORRY!

What you need:
  • Glossy/Shiny lipgloss/lipsticks
  • Powder (preferably loose powder but, any powder should be fine)
  • Tissue paper (optional but it's great if you have it)
Okay. Here's the tip.

Tip 1: Apply your lipgloss/lipstick. Take your tissue paper and separate the tissue paper layers. (You know tissue paper has layers? Separate it and take only one of them. Place it on your lip. With a powder. Dab it over the tissue paper so that the powder will penetrate the tissue paper and it'll be even.

Tip 2: Just like tip 1. Apply your lipgloss/lipstick first. Afterwards with clean fingers, dab the powder on your lips.

There you have it! Matte lipstick for you!

3. "New" Mascara!

Honestly, who doesn't have mascara that are going to dry up soon? I do! I hate it and I know you hate it too. It's like you spend a lot on a good mascara but it'll dry up sooner or later. But, not to worry. There's a tip that I would like to share.

What do you need:
  • Mascara
  • Eye drops/Saline
Tip: Add 1-2 drops of eye drops/saline into the mascara tube.

YES. THAT IS ALL. YOUR MASCARA WILL BE GOOD AS NEW!

I hope you would try out these tips and see you on my makeup tutorial! If there's any question you would like to ask, ask me at my ask.fm!

DIY Crayon Lipstick

DIY Crayon Lipstick

"Crayon lipsticks?! Seriously?!"

Yes, I'm serious. Do you want to spend dollars on a new lipstick? No? Have crayons that you don't want to use anymore and want to throw them away? Hold up! Recycle it by making your own simple DIY lipstick. It requires 2-3 ingredients depending on what you like. Be it matte or glossy.

Crayon lipsticks are safer compared to other lipsticks that are sold in stores which contains chemical in it. Crayons are 100% non toxic so you don't have to worry about any unwanted stuffs on your lips. Crayon lipsticks are much more long lasting and feathery-free compared to normal lipsticks. What's best about crayon lipsticks? You get to choose the shade you want by mixing the colours to get your desired colour! You'll have fun trying out new colours and mixing odd colours together to form a new shade!

As you can see, Two of the crayons are absolutely naked. The shorter one is orange and the other is reddish orange. I've been dying to get an orange lipstick so I made one and here it is.

It's an orange with a touch of red lipstick. I'm in love with the colour. I can't wait for the next colour I'm gonna do. Probably a berry shade. Okay enough of the talking.

Here's the things you need:

  1. A pan filled with water
  2. 1/2-1 teaspoon of Olive Oil* (This is to add shine to your crayon lipstick. The more you add, the more glossy your lipstick is.)
  3. A jar
  4. 1 teaspoon of Vaseline/Shea Butter/Organic Coconut Oil (To add moisture in your lipstick and prevents your lip from chapping)
  5. A stirring stick
  6. Crayons
  7. Container
  8. Lip brush
  9. Stove
  10. Refrigerator
  11. Gloves
Steps:
  1. Remove the paper from the crayon.
  2. Turn the stove to high heat.
  3. Fill the pan with water to about 3/4 of height.
  4. Place it on the stove and wait for the water to boil so that you can proceed to the next step.
  5. Turn the heat down to low or low-medium after the water has boiled.
  6. Place the jar on the the pan. (This acts as a double boiler)
  7. Add crayon into the jar and wait for it to melt.
  8. Stir continuously.
  9. Then, add about a teaspoon of Vaseline and Olive oil* into the jar and stir. (the more you add your Vaseline, the more easier for you to apply your lipstick)
  10. Stir until all ingredients have melted.
  11. Turn off the heat.
  12. Pour the lipstick mixture into the container.
  13. Place it in the fridge for 3-5 hours for the lipstick mixture to solidify.

WALA! YOUR LIPSTICK IS DONE! It's easy, trust me. Have fun mixing the colours around! Post your lip colours online with the hashtag #delilahdiy! See you on the next post.

Love, Delilah.

Daily Morning Routine

I wake up at different timings everyday. Trust me. If I were to sleep late the night before, I'll definitely wake up late and yes, that goes for sleeping early the night before and waking up early in the morning. Let's just put this in a direct manner. I'm totally not a morning person. My name says it. Laila which means night. Just joking. So let me share you my morning routine.

First of all, I brush my teeth. So here's my current favourite toothpaste.

This is the Sensodyne Gentle Whitening toothpaste. It works like a miracle for me. I have a thing for white teeth although I know that white teeth are not healthy teeth but I love to use whitening toothpaste since ages ago. That's just me! After brushing my teeth, I may go a step further and brush my lips to exfoliate them. It's a dry and humid weather in Singapore so the moisture in your lips evaporates therefore it dries up and you have to brush, brush, brush all the dead and dry skin away!

Next, I cleanse my face. I'm currently using Eversoft Pore Minimising cleanser which i got in a bundle of three last three weeks at Watsons. A great deal though.

Yes, the pore minimising cleanser is the one at the bottom in the middle. This cleanser is all made up of organic plant actives like tomato and cucumber as mentioned in the product itself. It helps to minimise the pores on your face and also remove excess oil sebum that results in breakouts. This cleanser makes your feel super fresh and oh, not to mention, the smell that lingers around your face while cleansing. Definitely a thumbs up!

Next, I exfoliate my face. I don't use any product at the moment because I realised that facial scrubs on the shelves does not work for me. It does not exfoliate as much as I expect. Thus, I DIY my own facial scrub which I've shared in the previous post. You can click on the link to view it. A simple DIY that everyone has to try out! Click here: DIY SCRUB

After exfoliating, I tone my face and my current favourite toner is by Nivea. It's Nivea Whitening and Pore Minimising toner.

A toner that I've been using since last year. This toner wipes all the excess dirts and makeup you have and bam, your face is clear and it prevents breakouts on your face. This product also comes with its cleanser and moisturizer. You can get this at Watsons or Guardian.

Lastly, moisturizer or sunscreen. Alright, for the days I don't go out, I like to use Bare Minerals Illuminating White Treatment.

This moisturizer is hard to find in Singapore already. I'm trying my best to save as much as I could. One thing that is great about this moisturizer is that it can be used for morning and night. It is not watery and yes, it locks in the moisture in my skin plus combating dark spots and pigmentation in the skin too. Thumbs up.

And, for the days I have to face the Sun most of the time. I use Olay White Radiance cream.

This cream has an SPF of 19 which I think will be a great sunscreen/moisturizer base before putting on my makeup. This cream also helps to reveal the fairness in the skin making your face radiant all day! Not to mention, it has Vitamin B3! I always find it easier to find moisturizer with SPF so that you don't have to apply so many layers on your face.

So, that's all for my morning routine. I'll be doing a DIY post next week on how to make your own lipstick using crayons! Do stay tune!

Love, Delilah.
